Take a look at the latest Frappuccino customization hack!

It appears Starbucks Japan has been working to enhance its line of tea products, having introduced some new tea-based items recently. One beverage, however, that they haven’t gotten around to offering as a product, although it may sound like something you would expect them to have on their menu, is a “chai” Frappuccino. Well, what if we told you there was an easy way to customize and create your own chai-flavored Frappuccino?

Apparently, all you need to do is order a Vanilla Cream Frappuccino but change the vanilla syrup to chai syrup, or you can just add extra chai syrup for 50 yen (US$0.45), and you get a delightful original drink that’s sure to satisfy any chai lover. Of course, we had to try this ourselves!

We promptly headed over to a Starbucks and ordered a Vanilla Cream Frappuccino with chai syrup instead of vanilla syrup, and we got a lovely milk tea-colored drink, different in color to a regular Vanilla Cream Frappuccino, which would have been pure white. To enhance the chai flavor, we also added some cinnamon powder on the top as well.

To best enjoy the customized drink, we first savored the frozen texture of the Frappuccino, then mixed in the whipped cream on top, which made it a sublimely creamy chai-flavored beverage. Plus, the cinnamon powder added to the spicy chai feel of the drink.

And how did it taste? If we didn’t know how the drink had been custom ordered, we could very well have believed that Starbucks had actually come out with a chai Frappuccino; it was that refined and delicious!

The drink doesn’t actually contain any tea, though, so it seemed to taste more milky and mild than a regular chai beverage, which we thought could make it enjoyable even for people who aren’t too fond of the strong spicy flavor in a standard chai drink.

So, we ended up being impressed with how versatile the Vanilla Cream Frappuccino is as a base drink; it’s not surprising that it ‘s been called the “white canvas of the Frappuccino world“. In fact, we were so impressed with this original chai Frappuccino that we would encourage anyone and everyone to go and try it right now at their nearest Starbucks.

If you’re in the mood for some spicy coolness, why not give the “chai customization” a try? We think it should be particularly delightful as the weather gets warmer in the coming weeks!
